Scrapbooking is Cheap Therapy

Well it's only cheap therapy if you don't spend any money and i didn't spend a dime. I just used what I had on hand. The first three are for the 52 Week Skecth Challenge by Tiare.

These last two were done back in October when I went to this 12 hour Crop. My girl Stephanie gave me an older Sketch magazine by Simple Scarpbooks and I got the sketch for these two from there.

I completed the first three layout early this morning, feeling much better.
Thanks for looking!

Layouts of the cutest nephew

For Christmas I bought my sister in law and family a scrapbbok album for my nephew. I told her I would periodically do some layouts to add to the book of photos I took of him. He is the cutest boy I know. Here are two layouts I did based on sketches by Tiare. These are from the 52 Week Challenge she has going on at her blog.
Supplies are Bazzill cs and Basic Gery Archiac with little Stampin Up! grosgrain ribbon.
What is another good boy paper line to use?

In Memory of my Mother Deborah Maxine Daniels

I miss my mom so much. Today would have been her 56th birthday, she died of lung cancer when she was 43.

Here are two layouts I tribute to my mom.
The journaling is the words to Wind Beneath My Wings.

Cherish your family and your friends they are not guaranteed to be here with you forever.

Happy New Year and Happy February!

Can I still say that being it's near the end of January/beginning of February? Well anyway I pray all is well with you all. All is not perfect with me but I am pressing forward...can't dwell on too many things out of my control.

So where do I start....Ok I did a December Daily I will have to take pics and post them. My December Daily was for the entire month of December and I just have like the last four days to finish. Christmas was good. Danielle got a big girl bike and a kids digital camera (which she hasn't look at since Christmas. I made a few Christmas cards, would have made more but the spirit of procrastination took over.

Here are the cards I made:

I used some basic grey wassail and basic grey dasher and Stampin Up! Christ is Born Stamp set

My job moved closer to my house! Can we say 12-15 minute commute! It is really doing alot for my gas tank. I use to drive 45 - an hour to and from work.

I am trying to spruce up my office a bit so I made desk calendar. I was inspired by Tiare she put this calendar from the KI memories blog in her most recent newsletter.

Here it is isn't it cute?
I promise to upload some pics of the December Daily this evening. The year is going. I don't usually complain about the weather but Philadelphia has been getting some snow and some cold. It has been freezing. But I was finally able to get some pics of Danielle playing in the snow!!

So this post is getting pretty long and didn't want to end without mentioning anything about the Inauguration. I scheduled to take off the day of the event back in November. Our offices moved January 15 and 16. I was out a few days prior to this due to my husband's grandmother passing. Do you know one of my supervisors asked was I still taking off the day of the Inauguration and I said I sure am! But our boss decided to close the office anyway so everyone would have the opportunity to watch. I watched every little detail, with such happiness, proudness can't really explain it. Our country has seen a new day indeed and I am proud to be apart of it.

A Season to be Thankful

I know I haven't been around in a while, time has been short, but wanted to post about this wondeful holiday that just passed. I made the trip to visit my sister in Columbus, OH and my two brothers, one from Mansfield, Oh and the other from Oklahoma City, OK. We decided back in October that it was time to come together again. I haven't seen my sibling since August 2005. So on Wedenesday around 3 PM, my husband, Danielle and I packed the car up and headed to Ohio. I arrived in Ohio aroung 11:40 PM, exhausted, and happy to be there safely.

Here are some pictures of food:

Be back tomorrow to post the rest of the pictures.

Happy Birthday to me!!!

I am 34 today! Wooohooo! So naturally the celebration started this weekend. I attended a crop in Easton, PA as a birthday gift from my sister and friend Doreen. It was a 12 hour crop and I completed 7 pages. I also tied for first place in the layout contest, for completing a layout with materials they handed out and we added our own embellishments. I had a great time, if I planned better I could have gotten more done, but I didn't, but that was really fine with me. The ladies were very nice and the food was good. i can't wait to do something like this again soon. Here are a few of the layouts I created i'll have to take pictures of the others tomorrow during the day:
The layout below is the one that won the contest:

So let me continue my celebration be back tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Danielle!

The little princess enjoyed herself today and yesterday! So much yesterday that she actually hurt herself. So Steph no photo shoot just yet. Here are some pictures of the days festivites:

The little one fell on Friday at school and she now has a bruise under left nostril and her bottlon lip is bruised too. Of course this would happen the day before her birthday, things like this add so much to the story of her turning 4.
Thanks for looking, pictures coming to a mini album soon. I am tired now and the Princess went to bed this evening without a fight, very unheard of, and when I went to check on her not even five minutes after I tucked her in she was knocked out. I believe it is safe to say the little princess had a great time.

This is what happens when she arrives at day care. Anybody know the Disney birthday song? At 7:45 am the Disney Birthday song is played for my baby and this is what happens. Children and daycare provider go crazy. Look how Danielle is still making eye contact with the camera. She is a MESS!!

This party will continue tomorrow, more pictures and fun times the rest of the weekend.

Funny Story

So a couple of weeks ago my daughter, my husband and I were watching TBN just seeing who was on their Praise the Lord program. I was explaining to my husband our daughters interpretations of our complexions. She says my husband is black, I am white and she is brown. Okay I wanted to make sure she wasn't just saying I was white, so there was a singer on the program named Vicki Yohe, who is white, so I turn to my daughter and ask her what color was the lady singing on the TV, she says...Mommy she's white just like you. LOL. As you all can tell from my previous posts my daughter and I are very much the same complexion, but can you tell me why she thinks I'm white and she's brown??? Kids! Here's proof.

Warning: Pity Party Below

Okay so I left on last Thursday for the ELCA Communicators Conference. It was a great conference. I met some great people, hey Nikki. I was scheduled to leave Chicago yesterday afternoon. My flight was rescheduled 3 times and then eventually cancelled. I get a hotel room at the Hyatt Regency for 69.99, the airline rate. After eating dinner I eventually dose off, around 3:30am the fire alarm goes off....I get dressed and get down stairs via the steps which wasn't so bad going down. I get outside and it's a false alarm. I reenter the hotel and due to the long lines at the Elevator I walk the seven flights to my room, which were murder. I can't seem to fall back to sleep so I have been on the computer since I got back to my room.

I just noticed one of my diamonds is missing out of my ring, and my cellphone refuses to work. I haven't seen my daughter and husband since Thursday and my flight today does not leave until 8:00 pm which means I still won't get home until 11:30 pm. I am doing okay, but say a prayer for me cause I am trying not to be too upset about all of this, knowing that there must be some type of God moment in all of this...

CKC and other ramblings

I went to CKC Valley Forge for the first time. I was excited nervous and overwhelmed all at the same time. My tour guide for this event, Stephanie was the best! She scoped out the place before I got there and we managed to get come great deals. As she mentions in this post
Heidi Swapp's company Advantus was having a serious close out! Here is what I scored for just $20 bucks.

I volunteered also and got a $30 credit for my service, with that I bought two books the Scrapbookers Almanac by Elizabeth Dillow and The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker by Aby Garvey and Wendy Smedley.

I also purchased an 8x8 book of SEI's Jolie Chocolat and 5 12X12 sheets from the some collection. I also bought 3 chipboard mini albums from Gifted memories. The owner Shere has be in business for year now, check her out she has some nice premade pages too.

i stopped off at the Memory Lane PA, which is kind of a lss. I got one of the Making Memories 4X6 journaling books i didn't have and I also picked up Simple Scrapbooks mini albums in an evening mag.

All and all I had a great time. When Stepanie and I finally made up our minds about lunch Ruby's diner sure hit the spot.

I managed to score some deals at Sears in the King of Prussia Mall for My duaghter and sister Aisha.

Last week I was on vacation from work, attending our Youth Convention. Can you believe my three year old sang in the children's choir everyday and sung a solo. I was floored when I saw this and I had nothing to do with it.

I am home today nursing a sick child with a fever...and it's onto Chicago on Thursday for work. I am hoping to get to Windy City Scrapbooking or Archivers. The schedule for the conference I am attending seems a bit tight so I may not be able to get to them, but hopefully I can.

I need to fix Danielle something to eat so I will talk to you all later.

Purple Rain

I watched Purple Rain Saturday night. It brought back so many memories. I remember playing the soundtrack, which was an actual album. I knew all the lyrics to every song on this album. That was not necessarily a good thing since I was only 10 when the movie aired. And one of the songs in particular was something that a 10 year old should never sing. “I knew a girl named a I guess you could say she was a sex fiend. Met her in hotel lobby....” Should not have been repeated by me at 10. Did I know what it meant? NO

Watching the movie reminded me of how much my mom loved Prince. She used to jokingly say that Prince was her husband. I use to imagine that Prince was my dad, well if she could say that he was her husband…LOL. This is my only memory of my mom’s taste in music. I wanted to write this down so I would always be reminded of her love for Prince it helped to form my love for him too.

Here are the lyrics to Purple Rain:
I never meant 2 cause u any sorrow
I never meant 2 cause u any pain
I only wanted 2 one time see u laughing
I only wanted 2 see u laughing in the purple rain

Purple rain purple rain
Purple rain purple rain
Purple rain purple rain

I only wanted 2 see u bathing in the purple rain

I never wanted 2 be your weekend lover
I only wanted 2 be some kind of friend
Baby I could never steal u from another
Its such a shame our friendship had 2 end

Purple rain purple rain
Purple rain purple rain
Purple rain purple rain

I only wanted 2 see u underneath the purple rain

Honey I know, I know, I know times are changing
Its time we all reach out 4 something new
That means u 2
U say u want a leader
But u cant seem 2 make up your mind
I think u better close it
And let me guide u 2 the purple rain

Purple rain purple rain

I only want 2 see u, only want 2 see u
In the purple rain.

Grocery Shopping

So Danielle and I went to the Supermarket today. So we are just shopping and I stopped at some Blueberry waffles. I stopped because the price surprised me and Danielle turns to me as says Mommy they cost $1.00. Okay she is only 3, when did she start knowing how to read price signs. I immediately called her father who didn't pick up. I just can't believe how much this little being is learning and retaining. I am glad for the preschool she attends and her teacher. I don't think I could teach her all she needs to know on my own. Here is a picture of the little smart one:

Here is Bethany and Danielle at their preschool graduation/move up day, arent' they just precious, I love this picture so much.

Talk to you again soon!!!

I'm back...

It's been a busy couple of months...this is going to be a long post with plenty of pictures. I'll start with last night, my best friend from high school graduated from Rutgers University,New Jersey with a double major in Music and Psychology...Here is the gang at her mom's house after the graduation. Me, Anjail and Lisa we were inseparable in high school. It was really nice to be together again.... During the graduation two rainbows appeared....how cool is that?? The next major thing was the celebration banquet for one the greatest preachers/teachers I know my father in law.... It was alot of work but it was so nice and encouraging to him...Here are some pics of the hubby and I and picture of the Princess Danielle at the celebration.

I have worked on plenty of projects over the last month but haven't taken a picture of a thing. I made five mother's day cards, 2 8x8 mini albums, and a collector's box frame. I will have to get some pictures taken of thses items, I also bought some really nice frames that held (4) 4x6 pictures and I printed pictures that I have taken of my girls from church and gave them to their mom's as gifts for mother's day.
In April I also got to hang out with Stephanie. We went to Memory Lane PA for their Yard Sale. We got some really nice deals, but Stephanie next time we have to be their at 6am like the other women....LOL..., Those women were serious!! We also went and stopped by the Crop Room which will soon be The Cropping Station. Can't wait for the grand opening! I also attended a crop with Stephanie hosted by Lisa. I talked entirely too much and I got absolutely nothing done...LOL. Can't wait to attend another crop, but this time actually get something done.
I am so thankful that Monday is Memorial Day...I need a day off. Danielle went to North Carolina for a week earlier this month and while she was away I took a week of vaction, I had some me time and went on a couple of dates with the hubby it was really nice....now it's back to reality...LOL
On Sunday I am going to get myself a Cuttlebug. I am super excited about that...I got my 50% off Coupon from Michael's and I am hype!!
Trying to remember what else has been happening since I lasted posted, but my age is working against me...
Thanks for reading and I will make sure my next update won't be so far apart.
